The camp hatchet is hand forged from a block of 4140 carbon steel in the Avery Knifeworks Forge near Boone, NC. Each head is heat treated one at a time for maximum edge retention. The poll is also hardened so it can be used as a proper hammer. This hatchet has a head weight of approximately 2.25 pounds, giving it a balanced heft. Each hatchet is hung on a 16” straight-grained hickory handle made from cabinet grade kiln-dried lumber. With your hatchet comes a custom sheath, also hand crafted in-house, from heavy-duty English Bridle leather.
